Eleuterio "Mexico" Tena on February 16, 2016, Eleuterio passed away after an eight month battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his family in his home.
Eleuterio Tena was born in Juarez, Mexico on March 2, 1955. He was the third child, and second son, of Eva Angelina Tena. Eleuterio, or Telo as his family called him, knew what was important in life. He spent as much time as possible raising his daughters, Eva and Linda, and his son, Francesco. He taught them to fish, took them camping every year, and made sure they knew their cousins by taking them on road-trips to Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Mexico. Most importantly, he made sure they knew that he was enormously proud of them and instilled in them his sense of honesty and goodness. Eleuterio was fiercely passionate and caring for the things he loved and valued. He loved his heritage - residents of Jamaica Plain remember him as the only guy at the Dominican parade waving a huge Mexican flag. He loved nature and all animals, having pets all his life. From coyotes in El Paso to crows in Boston, Eleuterio would take in the wounded and abandoned and would nurse them back to health.
Eleuterio's presence was always felt. He lived according to his own terms and left huge impressions on anyone he encountered. Eleuterio is survived by: his wife, Martha Tena; his brother Charles Webb, his sisters Rosa Arroyo and Eva Webb; his daughters Linda Tena and Eva Tena; his sons Carlos Enrique Tena and Francesco Tena; his grandchildren Carlette, Ilan, Jade, Antonio, Angelisse, and Anabelle.
Funeral Services will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Saturday February 20 from 10 AM until 12 Noon. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
