FALL RIVER… Leonard Gonsalves, 68, of Fall River passed away February 12, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Lisa (Kirker) Gonsalves of Fall River.
Born in Boston, he was a son of the late James and Maryana (Barboza) Gonsalves.
Mr. Gonsalves was a member of the VFW Men’s Auxillary in Fall River, and the American Legion’s Sons of the Legion, Post 314, was a former member of the former Bowl & Green. He loved boxing and used to box for the P.A.L. Golden Gloves under Nero Faris.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Cheryl Gonsalves of Fall River, Cory Gonsalves of Fall River, Jason D’Tueller of Fall River, Shane Soares of Somerset, Leonard Gonsalves, Jr. of Fall River, and James Gonsalves of Fall River, his sisters: Joyce Antunes-Barboza of Texas, Arlene Silva of New Bedford and Donna Bembery Rivera of Quincy, his brothers, James Gonsalves, Sr. of Fall River and Robert Gonsalves of Fall River, his great aunts, Lillian Myers and Sandra Santos, both of New Bedford, 9 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Judith Barboza Baker and Annette Gonsalves and great grandson of the late Antonia Britto.
Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 at 8 PM at the South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA 02723. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-8 PM prior to the service.
