George G. Kirkwood, 75, of Westport, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Nelda (Cabahug) Kirkwood.
Mr. Kirkwood was born in New Bedford, son of the late George and Dorothy (Handy) Kirkwood and had been a lifelong resident of Westport. He served his country as a Basic Airman in the United States Air Force, later becoming a Naval Seabee. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a truck driver for UPS and for Tilcon Capadli Construcion Co. Mr. Kirkwood loved to travel and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors along with his wife include his 3 sons: Liston G. Kirkwood of Fairhaven, John L. Kirkwood of New Bedford and Jason T. Kirkwood of Pittsburgh, PA; his daughter: Jessica A. Kirkwood of Westport; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Lance C. Kirkwood and brother of the late Margaret “Peggy” Coderre, Judith K. Smith and Mary K. Sylvia.
Masonic Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790 at 11:30 A.M.
Visitation will be from 10-11:30 A.M., at the funeral home, prior to the service.
A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westport Council on Aging, 75 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790.
