Obituary

MARLBOROUGH: Mary Margaret “Peggy” (Petro) Amato, age 71, died suddenly at her Marlborough home on Friday, February 12, 2016. She was the devoted wife of Harold J. Amato for 41 years.

Born, raised, and educated in Natick, she was a daughter of the late Vasil and Mary Eleanor (Cain) Petro. She continued her education at Newman Prep in Boston. Peggy had been employed with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority as a Toll Collector for 38 years.

Peggy and Harold lived briefly in Holliston prior to settling in Marlborough forty years ago. Fond of visiting the shore and shopping, Rockport was a favorite spot for spending a day. She and Harold also enjoyed spending days at the beach. A family oriented lady, Peggy was very happy spending time with her nieces, nephews and their families, and always lent an ear to those who sought her opinion or advice. She also doted on her pet birds and cats.

She is survived by Harold; a brother, Anthony Petro of OH; a brother-in-law, Paul Lindquist and his wife Phyllis of Dover; a sister-in-law, Denise Siaba and her husband Michael of Natick; nieces and nephews, Sara Giargiari, Chris Lindquist, Michael Petro, Amanda Russell, and Ashley and Andrew Siaba; and her grandnieces and nephews, Bella and Nicholas Giargiari, Ava Petro, and Parker Lindquist.

Her funeral service will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, on Wednesday, February 17th at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends may visit with Peggy’s family beginning at 9:00AM. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
