Luene (Ellis) Silva, 96, of Truro passed away peacefully on Thursday February 11th, after a long and fulfilling life. She was the beloved wife of Louis 'Ding' Silva for 60 years until his death in 1998.
Luene was born in Dennis, Massachusetts, July 26, 1919, daughter of the late Russell D. and Bertha (Gage) Ellis. She moved to Provincetown with her husband to work alongside him selling lobsters and shellfish out of their home, while raising eight children. She enjoyed hunting, watching the Boston Red Sox, and playing bingo. Above all, Luene enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Todd Silva of Truro and three daughters, Luene Grady of Wellfleet, Jacquelyn Ellis of Marston Mills, and Pamela Raasch of Wellfleet. She was predeceased by a son Louis Silva Jr., and daughters Marjorie Silva, Elizabeth Youngblood, and Sharon Carmichael. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown, on Monday, February 22nd from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 5:30pm. Family and friends are invited to attend.
