Obituary


Sylvia G. (Shepard) Dill, 101, of Medway died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Medway Country Manor. She was the wife of the late William B. Dill who died in 1987.

Born in Framingham on December 8, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Edith (Wood) Shepard. She was a lifelong resident of Medway.

Sylvia was a graduate of Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an R.N. for the late Dr. Nelson in Medway and was the District Nurse for the town of Millis. Later on in her career she worked as the Director of Nursing at the former Maryland Nursing Home in Medway, retiring at the age of 72.

Sylvia and her late husband were very active in the Christ Episcopal Church in Medway where she was the Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was a member of Quinobequin Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a 2nd generation member of the Framingham Heart Study.

In her spare time Sylvia enjoyed knitting and crocheting but most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Judith A. Johnson and her husband Jerry of Shrewsbury.
She also survived by her grandchildren Ricky V. Dill Jr. and his wife Carol of Bellingham, Allison Bickum and her husband Chris of Norfolk, James Goldman and his wife Mary Ann of Kentucky, Mark Dill and his partner Patricia Hilbert of NJ, William Johnson and his wife Christina of VA, and Colleen Boucher of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by her 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of late Richard V. Dill Sr. and his surviving wife Betty of FL.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Christ Episcopal Church, 14 School Street, Medway on Wednesday, February 17 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber St., Medway
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to Christ Episcopal Church, 14 School St. Medway, MA 02053.
