NATICK: Richard Intinarelli, age 86, a prominent Massachusetts builder and World War II veteran, died at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on Sunday afternoon, February 7, 2016, after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of E. Ann (Johnson) Intinarelli.
Born, raised and educated in Natick, he was a son of the late James and Catherine (Tofalo) Intinarelli. Rich left high school after the 10th grade to serve with the Army. After finishing basic Airborne School at Fort Benning, he served as a truck driver and mechanic with the 82nd Airborne until November 1947. He returned to Natick and proceeded to earn his GED and a builder’s license.
Rich and Ann married and moved to Coral Gables, Florida, where he was kept busy with work for several years. They returned to Natick with two children in 1959, staying with Ann’s parents, Paul and Vivian Johnson, while Rich built their own home on an adjacent lot. He partnered with a nephew to start Waynerich Builders, and together they handled the construction of many public and private buildings, among them, the Chatham Town Hall, the Grafton State Police Barracks, the Upper Cape Regional Tech High School in Sandwich, Cape Cod Regional Tech High School in Harwich, the Holliston Police Station, and the Eastham Pumping Station. In 1970, Rich ventured on his own with the Start-Rite Company, working primarily with concrete foundations for commercial buildings and additions. Never one to be idle, Rich continued to help others with building projects long after his retirement.
A tremendous cook, Rich was known for the feasts he would set out on Sunday nights. Meatballs, sausages and of course his sauce, were always from scratch. He loved to entertain family and friends, was passionate about golf, and was faithful to his morning Honeydew Donut group.
He is survived by Ann; their children, Mark Richard Intinarelli and his partner Sue McGillivray of Hopkinton, Steven Paul Intinarelli of Natick, and Carla Intinarelli Dolliver and her husband Richard of Worcester; two grandchildren, Amie Lee Intinarelli Luna and her husband Hector, and Adam Clark and his wife Karyne; four great-grandchildren, Sophie and George Luna and Audun and Naija Clark; two sisters, Virginia McPherson and her husband Stan of Tucson, AZ, and Janet Fair of Holliston; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by eight brothers, John Rocco, Carlo, Anthony, William, Harry, Vincent, Ernest, and Walter; and three sisters, Isabelle, Mamie Lanni, and Cecelia Nelson.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Tuesday, February 16th beginning at 4:00PM with a Time of Reflection to follow at 7:00PM. Donations may be made in his memory to the Natick AmVets Post 79, One Superior Drive, Natick, MA 01760. http://www.amvetsnatick.org/.
