Obituary

Mary (Lombardo) Gravallese, of Peabody, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 10th, at the Beverly Hospital. She was 88.

Born and raised in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Giachino and Rosina (Perino) Lombardo. Mary was a graduate of Chelsea High School, class of 1946. After graduation, Mary and her husband Michael wed on April 4, 1948. They had three sons and raised their family in Chelsea with love and devotion.

Mary spent her career working as a customer service representative for Polaroid Corporation. She enjoyed summering in Cape Cod & New Hampshire with her family.

Mary (or Nonnie as most knew her later in life) very much cherished her two grandchildren Raquel & Christopher and more recently her grandson-in-law, Jon. She was also the (extremely) proud "Gi-Gi" to her great-grandson, Julian.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She truly was a beautiful woman inside and out.

Mary was the Beloved wife of the late Michael Gravallese, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Steven Gravallese and his wife Irene of Peabody. Mary was preceded in death by her sons John and Michael Gravallese Jr. She was the loving grandmother of Raquel Frisch and her husband Jon of Salem as well as Christopher Gravallese of Peabody. Mary was the proud great grandmother of Julian Frisch of Salem. She was the dear sister of Lena Scarpetti and her late husband Dave of NH, as well as the late Nancy Scarpetti and her husband Al. Mary is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, February 17th at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s name may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA.
