Lynette Grantham Griffin, 69, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, February 14, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Englewood Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Griffin was born November 27, 1946, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Pete & Dorothy Young Grantham. She was a seamstress at Fitzgerald Underwear and Irwin Manufacturing and also worked for Lowell Packing Company. She enjoyed spending time with her puppies, “Boy” & “Junior” and her world revolved around her grandbabies. One of her favorite pastimes was watching “Days of our Lives”.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Leonard Griffin of Ocilla; children and their spouses: Linda & Bubba Guidry of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Teresa Purvis of Ocilla, Debra Kaye Heaton of Lake City, Florida, Carl Edward Heaton, Jr. & Eleanor of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Eva Raye Griffin of Tifton, Leonard Wesley Griffin of Fitzgerald, Geraldine & Sonny Dowdy of Mystic, Howard Griffin of Ocilla, and Carrol & Dawn Griffin of Fitzgerald; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, David & Maxine Grantham of Douglas; and a sister, Loretta & John Fletcher of Sylvester. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Gerald “Hollywood” Grantham, Billy Grantham, and Roy Grantham; and a sister, who died a few hours after Mrs. Griffin, Jane Grantham Griffin.
Her children would like everyone to know what an awesome Mother Mrs. Griffin was to them. “Fly high Mama, we will cherish our memories forever. We hope you rest in peace.”
