Ernest N. Richards, Sr., 67, of Derry, NH, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ayer, MA on April 10, 1948, a son of the late Ernest and Phyllis (Christofonto) Richards, and had lived in Derry for nearly 40 years, formerly living in Lunenburg, MA. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force having served for four years. Ernest was a lover of outdoor activities especially gardening and working in the yard. He was a big Red Sox and Patriots Fan and was also a member of a bowling team. Ernest will be remembered as a family man.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Maxine Richards; two sons, Ernest Richards, Jr. and his wife Leighanne, and Scott Richards and his wife Tiffiny; four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ernie, Ryan and Tyler; his brother, Edward Richards and his brother-in-law and best friend, Jim Cox. Ernest was predeceased by his sister Ann Marie Cox.
Calling hours were held on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10am in the funeral home. The burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, East Derry, NH.
