Grandfather of Margaret Strojny and her husband Matthew of Carver; William Bradley, II and his wife Stephanie of So. Easton; Elisabeth Bradley of Brockton; James and Katharine Johnson both of Oak Bluffs and the late Kevin Johnson, II. Great grandfather of Emily and Alison Strojny, Michael and Eva Roderick, Billy and Johnny Bradley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins especially Cathy Auger of Bridgewater and his pal Otis.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9am. Funeral Mass at St. John Church East Bridgewater at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Obituary
Mr. Johnson died Sunday morning at the Sachem Skilled Nursing Center in East Bridgewater after a period of failing health.
He was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Madeline (Crimmins) (Johnson.) Cote. He had attended Brockton schools. During WW II Mr. Johnson served with the Sea Bees in the US Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and became a disabled veteran. Following his military discharge Mr. Johnson began a lengthy career as a project management specialist for the Northeast Region of the United States for the Veterans Administration. He had worked in the Brockton, Los Angeles and Washington, DC offices. While working in Washington he resided in Falls Church, Virginia.
After his retirement he returned to Massachusetts and has resided in East Bridgewater for the past 20 years. He enjoyed the company of good friends and neighbors.
Mr. Johnson was an avid fisherman and golfer and was a member of Strawberry Valley in Whitman. He was a communicant of St. John Church in East Bridgewater where he was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a longtime member and past officer of the Knights of Columbus in Virginia.
