Diane lost her long battle with Leukemia on Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was at home in Evans, GA surrounded by her family. She was born in Ithaca, NY on February 25, 1950 to H. “Dever” and Helena (Burchfield) Homer.
Diane graduated from Homer Central High School in 1968 and remained a longtime resident of the Cortland/Homer NY area, relocating to Las Vegas, NV and most recently Evans, GA. She had a passion for golf, gardening, sewing, cooking and reading. Diane was an active member of the Kiwanis club and while living in Cortland was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed riding her Harley Trike and joining the Patriot Guard became her way of saying thank you to our military. Diane was proud to have served the community as a member of the Cortland Police Department and at Cortland Rural Cemetery. In addition, she was a former employee of Wall St. on Main St, Aldi’s, and finished her career as a 911 operator at the Nevada Test Site in Las Vegas, NV.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Bill Robinson, her daughter AnneMarie (David) Farris; her four step-daughters, Randy, Katie, Kelley and Molly Robinson; her brothers Robert (Lynn) Homer, Michael (Vickie) Homer, and sister Larie (Bill) Cifaratta, her Aunt Corrine (Gordon) Foster, several nieces and nephews and an abundance of loving friends.
Funeral services will be held 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Pastor Bill Tolbert officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
