Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Pearl Camsell (Crosby) Blanchard Champagne, 95, a former longtime resident of Springfield, Ludlow and Otis, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 5, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Bellingham, Massachusetts on November 22, 1920, a beloved daughter of the late Frederick N. and Mary I. (Camsell) Crosby. She was employed in the Accounting Department at the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company before retiring in 1985. During her leisure time, she held a season ticket for many years for the Springfield Indians at the Coliseum in West Springfield. Most of all, she was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was a Sunday school teacher at the former Wesleyan Methodist Church in Springfield before becoming a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Elwain J. Blanchard who was Called Home on December 21, 1983 and John E. Champagne who was Called Home on July 12, 2007. She leaves her three loving daughters, Susan E. Newell and her husband, Thomas, of Indian Orchard, Dr. Jean L. Blanchard of Eugene, OR and Elaine A. McKay and her husband, Warren Padula, of Sag Harbor, NY; her five cherished grandchildren, Richard Newell and his wife, Beth, Kenneth Newell and his partner, Michelle Reno, Louis Blanchard and his wife, Pamela, Sayid “Mike” Blanchard and Jennifer Palermo and her husband, Scott; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Nicole Newell, Steven Newell, Taylor Newell, Adam Yoder, Ashley Harney and her husband, Nicholas and Jasper Palermo; and her cherished great-great grandson, Jaxson Harney. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday morning, February 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery, Callendar Avenue, East Longmeadow, MA 01028. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, February 10, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the service. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
