Obituary

Belmont-----Robert Aubrey Harper 86, of Durrell Mountain road, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born November 25, 1929 in Laconia, son to the late William and Caroline (Lyman) Harper. As an army veteran of the Korean War, he served as part of the original Belmont Police Department for 8 years and then the Fire Department for 32 years. Within that time he also served as the deputy chief for both, as well as a member of the American Legion, Post # 58. He will most recently be remembered as a custodian for Belmont High School for over 25 years, were he received awards from the state including “Champion for children” and “Custodian of the Year”. Bob was known well for his tireless contributions to the town of Belmont. Robert is survived by his devoted companion Barbara DiRoma of Belmont, loving daughter, Trudy Kenny and her husband Kevin of Tilton, son-in law Jerry Baron of North Berwick ME, Barbara’s daughters Patty Dutton, and Diane DiRoma. Grandchildren Jeremy, Eric, Tonya (Thomas) Baron, Patrick and Emerald Kenny, as well as five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Tammy Baron; his three brothers, William Horace, Forrest George and Donald Lyman Harper and his two sisters, Louise Florence Harper and Arline May (Neal) Harper. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. A Graveside service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Tammy Baron Scholarship Fund c/o Peoples United bank, one center St. Exeter NH 03833 Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is assisting the family with the arrangements.
