Eugenie Eckstein Rogers, 88, of Tifton passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Benji Varnell officiating. Mrs. Rogers will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mark Pro, Tyler Pro, Jean Guzman, David Vann, Matt Franks, Billy Phelps, Danny Gay and Greg Ramey will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 2, 1927 in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany, Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of the late Eugen Eckstein, Sr. and Anna Seitzer Eckstein. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy “Pete” Rogers; and a sister, Gretel Brecht. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Kitchen Band, Club 55 and the Sewing Circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Georgia Power Women.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Mark Pro of Tifton; four sisters, Anneliese Schneider, Hertha Betz, Siglinde Grieser and Karin Frank, all of Germany; a brother, Eugen Eckstein Jr. of Maysville; two grandchildren, Matthew Tyler Pro and Megan Pro Guzman; and five great-grandchildren, Cameron Reese Pro, Calley Reagan Pro, Carlee Reanna Pro, Chelsea Caelyn Pro and Cassie Barnes.
