Worcester, MA - Jeannine C. (Gaucher) Benson, 86, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 61 years, R. Henry "Hank" Benson; a son, Dana Benson; a daughter, Karen Stake; 2 grandchildren, Jillian and Nichole Benson; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Phyllis Gaucher of West Boylston; brother- and sister-in-law, R. Leonard "Lenny" and Ruth Benson also of West Boylston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Henry Robert Benson, as well as 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Jeannine was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Marguerite (Roberts) and Valmore X. Gaucher. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked for many years as the Executive Secretary to the President of Norton Company. During her retirement, she worked as a cashier at the West Boylston Wal-Mart. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary and enjoyed reading, sewing, and playing bingo.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016, from 3-5 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary 25 Fales St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeannine's memory may be made to the VNA Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
