Obituary

With family by her side, Geneva Gerry Rounds, 88, of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH finished her race in this life on February 3, 2016. She was then received into heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where she will live for all eternity. Geneva is survived by her husband of 64 years, George Rounds of NH; her sister, Marolyn Gerry of ME; her three children: Richard Rounds of ME, Donna Powell of NH, Joyce Price of NH; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, with another on the way; and two nephews, Peter Hinckley of NM and George Hinckley of MA.

Geneva was born November 11, 1927 and raised on her family’s farm in Raymond, Maine where she learned the value of family unity and hard work. Full of many interests, she chose to pursue teaching and attended Farmington State Teacher’s College in Farmington, Maine. She went on to get her Master’s degree in Home Economics Education at Simmons College in Boston, MA, and took other courses, earning an additional 21 credits. She taught home economics for 25 years at Norton High School in MA, during which time she was also a loving wife and mother.

Full of smiles and laughter, Geneva loved quilting, baking, playing games, and serving those around her. She was always keen for an adventure and organized many family gatherings. In addition, she served quite capably in many capacities at North Christian Church, North Dighton, MA (formerly North Rehoboth United Methodist Church). She was an avid Boston Red Socks fan and also enjoyed preparing crafts and homemade pickles, relishes, and jams for many craft fairs. Caring, kind, and generous, she will always be remembered above all else as loyal: loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. A Visitation will be held from 11am-Noon on Wednesday February 10th at Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St (off Tremont St/Rte 140) Taunton. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home at noon with burial following in Steven's Corner Cemetery in Rehoboth. Online condolences may be made at www.tauntonfuneral.com.
