Obituary

Holliston: E. Paul Thurston, 90, passed away peacefully and comfortably with his family at his side on February 1, 2016.
He was born in Newton on June 14, 1925 the son of the late Bertram E. Thurston and Alida (Tracy) Thurston.
Paul was the beloved husband for 62 years of the late Verna E. (Hodgson) Thurston who died on April 4, 2010.
Devoted father of Richard Thurston of Bellingham; Susan Farrell and her husband Michael Farrell of Enfield, NH and John Thurston of Mansfield. He was the father-in-law of the late Amy S. (Podufaly) Thurston who died on November 17, 2015. He was the cherished grandfather of Shannon Musser; Alyssa Sousa; Jerilyn Houdling; James Thurston and Karla Metro. Loving great-grandfather of Livianna Sousa; Hayden Houlding; Aiden Sousa; Aubrey Houlding; Kelsey Houlding; Landen Musser and Anna Metro. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Louise Crawford and Robert Thurston.
Paul had spent his formative years in Newton where he was educated and was a graduate of Newton High School. He resided in Natick for over 40 years before moving to Holliston 26 years ago. He served his country with honor and pride during World War II with the United States Navy. For many years he was the Superintendent at H. Harwood and Sons on Walnut St in Natick. He retired after many dedicated years as a Technician with Dennison Manufacturing Co in Framingham. He was a longtime member of Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church in Natick, served as a Trustee of the church as well as on many committees over the years and an active supporter. He loved to read, golfing in his earlier years as well as wood working and carpentry projects. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family in East Great Lake in Acton, Maine where they spent many family vacations. He will be missed and loved by his family who was the center of his life.
Memorial visitations will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with the Reverend Xia Jiao officiating.
Interment will follow in the Thurston family lot in Dell Park Cemetery in Natick.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church, 107 Walnut Street, Natick, MA 01760.
