Obituary

Karen M. Keneavy, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away in her Worcester home on January 25, 2016. Born on August 25, 1958, to Mary D. (nee Kearney) Keneavy and Martin “Red” Keneavy, both now deceased, Karen lived and worked as a Nurse in Roxbury and Boston until she relocated to Worcester after her Mother died. Always accepting her nursing assignments with energy and devotion, Karen worked hard for most of her life. Her vocation as a nurse practitioner prepared her for the care and nurturance she provided to her Mother with whom she lived until her Mother passed away on March 15, 2015. Karen’s work here on this planet is done. She received a call for her next assignment from which she will not be returning. Her new mission comes with a huge sign-on bonus: a reunion with her beloved Mother. She has gone to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, and eating without gaining an ounce. All who knew her will remember her smile, her warmth, her appreciation for friendship, her love of her family and those who were privileged to call her “friend.” Karen always sought to improve herself up until the very end. We, who loved her, will miss her and we wish her Godspeed with this Irish blessing:
“May the blessings of light be upon you,
Light without and light within.
And in all your comings and goings,
May you ever have a kindly greeting
From them you meet on the road.”
She leaves her brother, Martin Keneavy, of Dedham, maternal Aunt and Godmother, Theresa Green of Plymouth, maternal Aunts, Joan Purcell of Franklin, Cathy Tomaielly of Bonita Springs, FL, maternal Uncle, Kevin Kearney of Warwick, RI, a paternal Aunt, Philomena Keneavy of Milton, MA, paternal Uncles, Jack Keneavy of Dedham, Jim Keneavy of Milton and many cousins from Massachusetts and Florida and all of the myriad friends who loved her across the Commonwealth.
