Westboro, MA

Charles W. Decker, 84, of Westboro, formerly of Marlboro and Dennis, passed away on Monday, Feb. 1st surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly L. (Sears Foster) Decker.

Charles was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Conrad and Ida (Magee) Decker. He was raised in the Bronx area of New York and joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 16 serving his country distinguishably in the Korean War. He also served in the Massachusetts National Guard. He was a long time Marlboro police officer until his retirement in 1985. He resided in Marlboro for many years and following his retirement, spent 17 years in Dennis, Cape Cod. He has resided in Westboro since September of 2015. He was a member and past President of the Marlboro Police Patrolman’s Union and member of the Trinity Church in Bolton.

Charles always looked forward to spending time with his family and cherished his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Residing in Dennis was a very special time for Charles, his wife Beverly and the entire family. Memories of the Cape Cod 4th of July parties, Cape Cod family Christmas extravaganzas and the games and scavenger hunts he organized where always fun and memorable. Throughout his 20 years as a Marlboro police officer, a part-time position he held with the Nickerson Lumber Company in Orleans, and his active membership with the Baptist Church of Brewster, he met so many wonderful people. His warm and loving personality was always appreciated by those who knew him. His memories will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his 6 children, Judy Kline and her husband Mark of Virginia, Michael Decker and his wife Frances of Brewster, Terry Decker-Jolie of East Douglas, Kim Bertonassi and her husband Paul of Marlboro, Sharon Decker of Marlboro, Stephen Decker and his wife Linda of Marlboro and his daughter-in-law, Kate Decker-Sargent of Dennis. He also leaves his 17 loving grandchildren; 11 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Evelyn Boris, Henry Decker, Florence Colena and Denise Decker.

A funeral service and celebration of Charles’ life will be held on Saturday Feb. 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Church, 14 Wattaquadock Hill Road, Bolton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlboro. Calling hours will be held on Friday Feb. 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
