Charles “Gary” Evans, 66, of Jonesboro, formerly of Tifton, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Ray Turner officiating. Mr. Evans will be laid to rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Roger Barfield, Glenn Doss, Coy Goff, Foster Goff Jr. and Don Turner will serve as pallbearers. Henry Fraser will serve as honorary escort.
Born October 8, 1949 in Tifton, Mr. Evans was the son of the late Buford Eugene “Gene Evans and Essie Goff Evans. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Buford Evans, Jr.
Mr. Evans is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chad Evans and his fiancé, Marilyn Cross of Ellijay and Brandon and Melanie Evans of Atlanta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jodi and Steven Downs of McDonough and Meghan and Justin Moore of Jefferson; two sisters, Debra Richardson of Tifton and Joyce Lobel of Augusta; five grandchildren, Josie Bass, Jensen Bass, Kaitlin Downs, Hayden Moore and Bennett Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
