Gloria Anne Urie, 53, of Manchester, died June 16, 2005 at the Elliot Hospital.
She was born in West Glover, Vt, May 7, 1952, and was the daughter of John and Yvonne (Diette) Urie. Prior to moving to Manchester 19 years ago she had lived in West Glover VT.
She was educated in the West Glover Community school system, and received a Bachelor's degree from Lyndonville State College.
Gloria was a teacher in Catholic schools for over 30 years, initially for 12 years at the Sacred Heart High School in Newport, Vt, and most recently at St. Anthony’s Elementary School in Manchester. In 2004 the graduating class of St. Anthony’s dedicated their yearbook to her.
She was a member of the bowling league at Lakeside Lanes, and was a swimming instructor for the American Red Cross.
She will be remembered for her love of her students and especially her nieces and nephews. She loved all animals, especially cats. She also had a passion for gardening and maintaining her flowerbeds.
She leaves her father of West Glover, Vt; 2 sisters, Caroline Langmaid, and her husband Francis, of Island Pond, Vt, and Bonnie Ingalls, of West Glover, Vt; a brother, John R. Urie Jr, and his friend Ginny, of West Glover VT; and a dear and loving friend, Annette Dube, of Manchester; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday June 20, 2005 in St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St. Manchester.
Burial was Tuesday June 21, 2005 in Andersonville Cemetery, West Glover VT.
