Lora Youghn Harper, 94, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Harper was born October 28, 1921, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Onnie & Dora Richardson Youghn. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker and a farm wife. She was a wonderful mother who loved to cook, fish and sew quilts. Mrs. Harper was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: LaRue Harper of Ocilla, Ottis & Barbara Harper of Ocilla and Ronald & Terri Harper of Moultrie; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Adolphus “Doc” Youghn of Irwin County and Eugene & Alice Youghn of Irwin County and two sisters: Naomi Harper of Fitzgerald and Effie Purvis of Tifton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John Aubrey Harper; a sister, Barbara Ross and a daughter-in-law: Carolyn Harper, wife of LaRue Harper; and a great-grandchild: Nichole Harper
