Obituary

Emma Lou Burdette, 94, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Ring officiating. Miss Burdette will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 2, 2016, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church.

Miss Burdette’s nephews, Ricky Burdette, Keith Beasley, Wayne Burdette, Richard Arrington, Justin Beasley, Eric Mullis, Jeff Stubbs and Joe Ireland will serve as pallbearers.

Born January 4, 1922 in Turner County, Miss Burdette was the daughter of the late Collie Anderson Burdette, Sr. and Barbara Maybelle Beard Burdette. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Henry and Emogene Burdette, Elmer and Janet Burdette, Oren Burdette and Grady and Lula Burdette; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Leona and C. J. Ireland and Esther Engebretsen; and two nephews, Craig Burdette and Eugene Beasley. She was retired from Sylvester Textiles and a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Miss Burdette is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Velma Burdette, Cleo and Eldridge Beasley, all of Ty Ty; one brother and sister-in-law, C. A. and Hortense Burdette of Sycamore; a sister-in-law, Betty Burdette of Ty Ty; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and much appreciation to all the nurses and staff at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Thanks also goes out to the Hospice of Tift Area group, who were very helpful in every way possible.
