Claire (Desy) Walsh, 89 passed away on January 31, 2016 at home with her devoted
daughter Jane as her caregiver by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Charles W.
Walsh in February 2015 , John Walsh, Jean D’Ambra, granddaughter Jacqueline Hippert, and her brother Paul Desy. She was born December 29, 1926 in Worcester, daughter of the late Paul and Blanche (Quillia) Desy. Claire graduated from Oxford High School. After graduating she become a cosmetologist for two years. She also worked at Chaffe’s Bomb Box Factory making boxes for World War II. In 1958 Claire and her family moved to Santee, California where the winters were warm and Charles obtained work. Claire got very much into politics, campaigning for the future president, JFK. Later in life Claire graduated from UMass College and worked for the State Department of Welfare as a Social worker for 16 years. Upon retirement, Claire and Charles retired to Florida for ten years. Claire is survived by her six wonderful children: Charles Walsh Jr. and girlfriend Patricia of Brookfield, Carol Bottcher of Dudley, Catherine Musiello and her husband Richard, Cynthia Bernard of Rutland, Jane Hippert and her husband Terrance, and Jody Walsh of Goodyear, Arizona. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She leaves her sisters Ruth Leone of Worcester, Jane Montignay and husband Norman of Bethany, Maryland, and Ann DeFeudis and her husband Donald of Oxford, and her sister-in-law Madelyn Desy of Worcester. She also leaves numerous nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 9-10:30am at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. A funeral mass will be celebrated after the calling hours at 11am at St. John's Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will be private at the family's convenience.
