David A. Barnwell, 58, of Boston, MA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. He was the son of the late Samuel L. Barnwell and Viola Robinson Barnwell. He is the beloved brother of Theola Simmons, of SC, Gwen Dawkins,of NY, Samuel L. Barnwell Jr., of NY, Larry Barnwell, of SC, Terry Barnwell (Jeanette),of GA, Reginald Barnwell (Patty), of IN, Victoria Barnwell, of MA, George Barnwell (Patricia), of MA. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.
David who was lovingly referred to as “DAB” by family and friends was a jovial, kind-hearted, loving family man. He was born on July 7, 1957 in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed his elementary education in the Charleston Public School System prior to migrating to Boston, Massachusetts with his family.
David graduated from Boston English High School and held a long standing position at Providence Nursing Home, Brighton, MA. Later in life he worked at Boston Day and Evening Academy where he was loved by many. He loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 5th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Highway, Roslindale, MA, followed by burial at Oak Lawn cemetery. Repast will follow at Wm E. Carter American Legion Post 16, 1531 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, MA.
