Nancy Gerardi Roberts of Provincetown died Saturday January 30th at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. She was 79.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the wife of the late Arthur Roberts, who died in 1990. Mrs. Roberts earned her undergraduate degree from Fordham University and a Master’s Degree in Education from New York University. She worked for the New York City school system for over 30 years, starting as a special education teacher in the infancy of that discipline and later transitioning to become a guidance counselor. She retired in 2005.
Nancy enjoyed reading and had a love of history, especially military and American history. After she retired, she thoroughly enjoyed New York City life. She frequently attended the theater and visited the many museums and galleries. She was also quite proud of her Irish heritage. In May of 2014, she moved to Provincetown to be closer to her son.
A son, Charles Roberts and his partner Craig Combs of Provincetown and London England survive her. She is also survived by her brother, John Gerardi of Hartsdale, NY and a sister Kathleen Wicks of Reston, VA. She was predeceased by her daughter Roanna Roberts in 2013.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown, on Friday, February 5th from 9:30 – 10:30 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am, in St Peter the Apostle Church, Prince St, Provincetown. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery.
