Eugene J. Robitaille Jr., 85 of Diamond Hill Rd. died Wednesday January 27, 2016 at The Friendly Home. He was the husband of Dolores (Cournoyer) Robitaille. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Eugene and Antoinette (Lajoie) Robitaille Sr. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. Gene was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Woonsocket Highway Department for over twenty five years, before retiring in 1990. He also worked part time for Stop and Shop Supermarkets, and as a pall bearer for the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home. He was a member and past president of the AMVETS Post 7.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Richard Robitaille of North Smithfield, and Roger Robitaille of Woonsocket, a daughter Rachel Lepage of Woonsocket, two sisters Helen Fontaine of Woonsocket, and Lucille Pelletier of Bellingham, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Maurice Robitaille, and Yvette Carriere.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting hours are Monday 5-7 PM.
