TAUNTON – Maria J. (Moreira) DeFrias, wife of Jose DeFrias of Taunton, died at Life Care Center of Raynham on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016.
She was 82 years old.
Born in St. Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Mariano and Filomena (DeJesus) Moreira. Maria moved to this country in 1968 and worked as an assembler for Texas Instruments for ten years.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church of Taunton, she enjoyed cooking, crafts and family gatherings.
Survivors include her son, John DeFrias and his wife Margarida of Florida; two daughters, Helen DeFrias of Taunton and Filomena DeMedeiros and her husband Robert of Florida; a sister, Idalina Medeiros and her husband Manuel of Taunton; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also mother to the late Rosa Estrella DeFrias and sister of the late Bertha Botelho, Gloria Moreira, Maria Medeiros, Filomena Arruda and Irene Medeiros.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Feb. 1st at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Jan. 31st from 2 to 5 p.m.
