Obituary

Corrine Rattray, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2016 at Cottage In The Meadow in Yakima, with family by her side. She was born on August 29, 1924 to Wilhelm Sven and Matilda Rattray in Carnation, Washington where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Carnation High School in 1940.

In 1943, she married Walter Rattray and they made their home in Prosser where they raised their four children. In 1999, she moved to Yakima to live with her son, David and daughter-in-law Lynn. As was her nature, she made many new friends with her loving heart. She enjoyed attending the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she received the love of the congregation, especially the children who called her “Grammy”. She routinely made trips to Prosser to visit her many friends and give them hugs. She had a way of brightening your day. She made frequent trips to Grandview Health Care to visit and enrich the life of her son, Bobby, by taking him on outings until he passed away. She also enjoyed trips to California to visit her daughter, Mary, and her granddaughters.

Corrine enjoyed flowers, search word puzzles and reading. Most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially the grandkids. In the earlier years, she enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family.

Corrine is survived by her son, David Rattray and wife, Lynn of Yakima; her daughters, Mary Smith and husband, Stewart of Susanville, California and Leola Newman of Stillwell, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Tara Rattray, Chris Rattray, Jared Rattray & wife Charity, Chrissy Lewis and husband, James, Lisa Flores and husband, Jeff and Lizzie Sell; 16 great-grandchildren
and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Rattray in 1977; her son, Robert John Rattray in 2002; two grandsons; two brothers; and son-in-law, Bud Newman.

A Graveside Service with be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Prosser Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held in Yakima at the Seventh–Day Adventist Church. The date and time will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to Worthy Student Fund at Yakima Adventist Christian School, 1220 City Reservoir Road, Yakima, WA 98907.
