Middleborough--Anne G. Jewett, age 86 years, died peacefully in her home on Dec. 17, 2015. She suffered from adenocarcinoma of the lung (lung cancer).
Born on Feb. 4, 1929 to Arthur H. Bastille and Alvine (Hanley) Bastille in Winchendon, MA, she was one of fourteen children in the family.
Anne attended Clark University in Worcester, MA for two years before entering the Worcester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing from which she graduated in 1954. She was first in her class academically as well as class president.
In September of 1954, she married Winston Jewett of Gardner, MA. They lived in Gardner, MA, Hanson, MA, and Middleborough, MA successively. Winston died in 1991.
During her fifties, Anne worked as a geriatric nurse in two different nursing homes. She was a very capable nurse and beloved by many patients. She was a lifelong member of the Worcester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Anne was also an active member of the First Congregational Church of Middleborough, MA. She had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; we are confident that she is now with her Lord and Savior.
Anne was predeceased by her brothers, Louis, Joseph, Theodor, Edward, John, and William and by her sisters, Beatrice Davis, Sylvia Lemire, and Edith Buckley. She is survived by her oldest son Amory, daughter Beth, and son William, and a granddaughter, Laurel Anne, and by her sisters, Bernice Evans, Janet Waller, and Teresa Prostak, and by many loved nieces and nephews and their families.
Interment of ashes will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery in Gardner, MA. A Memorial Service for Anne, led by Pastor Peter Murdy, will be held at the First Congregational Church of Middleborough, MA.
