Bessie Jane Evers Wells Nelson, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating.
Mrs. Nelson was born January 26, 1930, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late John Henry and Minnie Dell Smith Evers. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed keeping children in her home and loved flowers. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the former Northside Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her children: Carroll & Chris Wells and Kathleen & Henry Hodge, all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Jessica Hodge, Bill Sumner, Wendy Baker and Adam & April Wells; four great-grandchildren: Claire Baker, Gracie Baker, Caleb Wells and Cason Wells and a brother: Oscar & Barbara Evers of Irwinville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: James Fletcher Wells; second husband: Clarence Nelson; three brothers and two sisters.
