Obituary

Margaret C. (Nugent) Flaherty, 92, of Hopkinton, formerly of Medway, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John L. Flaherty Jr. who died in 1981.

Born in Rutland, Vermont on April 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen B. (Mahoney) Nugent. Prior to moving to Hopkinton, Margaret had been a resident of Medway since 1952.

Margaret served her country as a 1st Lieutenant Nurse in the Army during WWII in the Philippines. After the war she continued to work as a Nurse at the Cushing VA Hospital in Framingham.

Margaret was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and enjoyed watching games with her family.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Flaherty of Hopkinton, John L. Flaherty III and his wife Helen of Leicester, Richard Flaherty of Medway, Edward Flaherty and his wife Kathie of Amherst, OH, Patricia Madden and her husband John of Plymouth, and Michael Flaherty and his wife Elizabeth of Raynham.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She is also survived by her siblings, Francis Nugent of Scottsdale, AZ and Helen Gallagher of Rutland, VT.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, January 28 from 9:00 – 9:30am from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway, followed by a Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 am. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
