Obituary

CHICOPEE – Donald C. Ringuette, 91, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 23, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family, his comrades and his wonderful caregivers. He was born at home on Broadway Street in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee on February 21, 1924, a beloved son of the late Olivier and Donalda (Delude) Ringuette. He was raised in Chicopee Falls, graduated from the former Saint George Elementary School and attended Chicopee Trade High School. Around1937, his family moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee where he resided for the remainder of his life. Don served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Area and attained the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he came back to Chicopee and returned to work at the former Springfield Armory. He later worked at the former Titeflex Company in Springfield and was last employed as a Plant Manager for the Longview Fiber Company in West Springfield. During the 1960’s, Don was active in politics in Chicopee and served for two terms as an Alderman for Ward 8 in Aldenville and also served as a Commissioner for the Chicopee Electric Light Department. He was a member of the Marine Corps Detachment and a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337. Active in his Catholic faith, Don was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville where he was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who loved his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Claire V. (Malo) Ringuette. They were married on September 11, 1946 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 69 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Linda C. Beaudry and her husband, Gary, of Chicopee and Roger D. Ringuette and his wife, Janice, of Providence, RI; his three cherished grandchildren, Daniel P. Ringuette and his wife, Anne, Matthew J. Ringuette and his wife, Jennifer, and Rachel B. Coulter and her husband, Michael; his six cherished great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Gabriel and Elise Ringuette and twins Cash and Dean Coulter; his dear brother, Domer Ringuette of Florida; his three dear sisters, Donalda Collins of Chicopee, Dorella Cote of Palmer and Olivette Beaudoin and her husband, Henry, of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Ringuette and Malo families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his two dear brothers, Oliva Ringuette and Olivier Ringuette, Jr.; and his dear sister, Olive Malo. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, January 28, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial with United States Marine Corps Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
