Obituary

Hollie Lynne Bernard, 25, of Lawrence, MA passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 25, 1990 in Lawrence, MA, a daughter of Mark Bernard and Lynne (Taylor) Bernard Burke. Hollie attended St. Mary’s Grammar School, graduated from Central Catholic High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Salem State University. She was just beginning her teaching career as an English teacher. It was her dream to teach abroad in Madagascar, Africa, something she had hoped to do with the Peace Corp. Her interests were varied from New England sports to yardsaling and quilting. She was an avid Batman fan. Hollie especially loved her family. She looked forward to the annual Bernard Family reunion every Labor Day; and she enjoyed the time spent with her Nana as her couch buddy. Hollie had a very giving spirit. She volunteered countless hours for local charities that included the Salem NH Police Department Open House and T Bones Restaurant, as well the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for the last 10 years.
She is survived by her father, Mark G. Bernard Sr. of Salem NH, her mother Lynne Bernard Burke and husband Sean of Lawrence MA, two brothers, Chad Taylor of Manchester, NH and Mark G. Bernard Jr. of Salem, one sister, Emma L. Bernard of Salem, fiancé Robert Raiche of Peabody MA, maternal grandmother, Georgette Taylor of Lawrence, MA, her many aunts and uncles, Bob Bernard and wife Hydee of Londonderry, NH, Richard Bernard, Lee Bernard and wife Paula, Terilynne Feeney and husband Mark, Gary Bernard, and Patricia Seay all of Derry NH, Andrea Crete of Londonderry, Wayne Taylor and wife Lisa of Lawrence, and Pamela Silveira and husband David of Dracut, MA, as well as numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Theresa “Noni” and Robert “Gramps” Bernard, and aunt Dawn Bernard Beauchesne and maternal grandfather George “Pop-Pop” Taylor.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 4 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry NH. A Liturgy of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, January 27th at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry NH. Burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Cancer Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, 32 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114.
