Obituary

Joseph "Nobby" Dansereau, 90, of Carver died on January 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (McFadries) Dansereau and was the son of the late Albert and Clarissa (Martel) Dansereau. He was born in Southbridge and lived in Carver for 40 years, previously living in Dorchester. Joseph was a decorated World War II Navy veteran. He worked in retail sales and manufacturing and was a long-time volunteer at the Atwood House Nutrition Center. An active parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Carver, he devoted much of his time and talent to the renovations of the church.
He is survived by his children, Mary McCarthy of Derry, NH; Patricia Kelleher of Keene, NH; William Dansereau of Kensington, NH; Paul Dansereau of Leominster, MA; and Joan Seamans of Middleboro, MA, and their spouses. He was the grandfather of Mary, Brenda, Bill, Michelle, Joe, Brian, Brendan, Tanya, Brett, and Jordan, and great-grandfather of Catherine, Shawna, Christopher, Madison, Alycia, Caleb, and Evan. He was also a beloved uncle, neighbor, and friend.
Joe will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, "Irish whisper" (especially in church), for his endless devotion to family, and as a strong-willed, independent man. He was an inspiration to all during his courageous battle with cancer.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 25th, from 4-8:00 PM, at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, on Tuesday, January 26th, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Mary’s cemetery in Middleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carver Council of Aging, earmarked for the Nutrition Center, 48 Lakeview Street, Carver MA 02330.
