NELDA WEYAND
Funeral services for Nelda Keilers Weyand, 94, of Fayetteville will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville with Pastor Marcia Kifer officiating. Interment will follow in the Florida Chapel Cemetery near Round Top. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 24, 2016, from Noon until 6:00 p.m. in the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with the family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
Nelda passed from this life Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Jefferson Place Assisted Living in LaGrange.
Nelda was born August 12, 1921 in Warrenton, Texas to Gustav and Hedwig Raschke Keilers. She was baptized on June 4, 1922 and confirmed on September 16, 1934. She and Ollie Weyand were united in marriage on October 5, 1939 in Warrenton, Texas and were married for almost 53 years before his passing on June 17, 1992.
She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville, the Hermann Sons, the Fayette County Farm Bureau, WELCA Church ladies group, and the St. John Quilting group. She loved playing the harmonica, baking cookies and bread, gardening flowers and vegetables, farming, doing word search puzzles, piecing quilts and sharing all these gifts lovingly with her family.
Nelda is survived by son, El Gene Weyand and wife, Darlene of Fayetteville; daughters, Waldine Garlin of Houston and Darlene Etzel and husband, Berrie of Shelby; grandchildren, Dwayne Garlin and wife Theresa, Wendy Flinn and husband Jeff, Eric Weyand, and wife Kristi, Courtney Goeke, and husband Brandon, Deric Weyand, and wife Katy, and Clint Etzel and wife Michelle, and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters, and son-in-law, Delbert Garlin.
