Mary Lawson Luke, 89, of the West Berrien Community passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2016, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County with Rev. Ken Potts officiating. Mrs. Luke will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Luke will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Luke’s grandsons, Danny White, Brian Blanchett, Gregg Luke, Brandon Luke, Tyler Luke, Jamie Luke and Cory Luke will serve as pallbearers.
Born November 17, 1926 in Colquitt County, Mrs. Luke was the daughter of the late Thomas “Tom” E. Lawson and Gladys Page Lawson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, G. P. Luke; and her siblings, Opal Lawson Baker, Audrey Mae Lawson McFarland, Lee Lawson, Irene Lawson and Jessee Thomas Lawson. She was a retired homemaker and member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County.
Mrs. Luke is survived by her children and their spouses, Barbara Luke Markham and husband, Charles of Ty Ty, Bernice Luke White and husband, Leon of Tifton, Franklin Luke and wife, Sherrell of Cecil, Penny Luke Brogdon and husband, Jerry of Nashville, Judy Dale Luke Hogan and husband, Larry of Nashville, Sonny Luke and wife, Susie of Tifton, Richard Luke and wife, Paula of Tifton and Randy Luke and wife Mandy of Tifton; a brother, Jimmy Lawson of Bellview, Florida; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
