Russell Douglas Holt, beloved husband of Judy, passed away on January 19th. He lost his three-year battle with prostate cancer. He was the last of 12 children born to Grace (Beauchamp) and Thomas Holt. He was also the last to pass.
Russ was born on February 20, 1932, at home in Mystic. Russ’s father passed away when he was only 11 years old, so it was left to him to take care of his mother which he did by quitting school and setting up pins until the early mornings at the Mystic bowling alley.
Russ was predeceased by Fannie Bell and Alfred who died as very young children. Russ’s siblings to pass were Thomas, Marion, Charles, Gladys, Edward, Clarence, Bob, Helen, and Rose.
Russell spent 4 years in the Air Force being honorably discharged in 1956. In 1957 he and Judith Ann Flynn were married. They had 4 children Dianne (Doug) Cahoon, Debbie (Dean) Riley, Randy (Jenna) Holt and Jeff Holt. Russ was very proud of his 4 grandchildren, DJ, Ryan, Charley, and Mason.
Russ retired from Pfizer after 26 years and has lived happily in Pawcatuck for over 50 years.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jason Haldas and his team from L & M Cancer Center in Waterford and the Center for Hospice Care in Waterford.
Russell has requested no services. He will be cremated, and burial will be at a later date.
