New Bedford – David A. Mendonca, 65, of New Bedford died at home June 13, 2005 after a long illness.
Mr. Mendonca was born in New Bedford, son of the late John P. and Rose (Batalha) Mendonca, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a U.S. Army veteran who, during his time of service, was a specialist on Nike missiles. He was employed as a machinist by Alberox Corp., New Bedford until his retirement. He enjoyed building model ships, was a private pilot who enjoyed all aspects of flying and had a special interest in history, especially films concerning wartime. He sponsored a child through the Christian Children’s Fund and especially loved his cats.
Survivors include 6 cousins: Rosemary Rucker, David K. Rucker, James D. Felix, Robert C. Felix, David P. Felix and Jose P. Felix.

Funeral service on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
Interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, New Bedford.
