Obituary

Nicholas F. Andreottola passed away peacefully at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center at the age of 95. The son of the late Michael C. Andreottola and the late Phyllis (DeRosa), Nicholas F. Andreottola was born on July 26, 1920 in in San Sossio Baronia, Avellino, Italy. He moved to Revere at a very early age and then to Medford where he has lived since 1938. Nick attended Medford High School and joined the Army Air Force in 1942. He was attached to the 312th DSR 15th Army Air Force and was stationed in North Africa and Southern Italy where he earned the Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, European and African Theatre Medals, Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal as well as the Air Force Longevity Medal. In 1943, while stationed at the Gio del Colle Air Force Base, Nick met his future wife, Tina Cordetta. On February 12, 1945, the couple married in Gio del Colle, Bari, Italy. The military marriage ceremony was performed by Monsignor Dina Lorenzetti.

The newlyweds came to Medford, where they raised their four children and spent the remainder of their lives. Nick retired from Stop and Shop Companies in 1983. Prior to that, he was partners with his two brothers in Andre Construction Company, Andre’s Supermarkets, Andre Stables and Medford Cinema.

Nick enjoyed sports and played and sponsored “Andre Club”, which was a men’s semi-pro softball team that played in the greater-Boston area in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. He loved to spend time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He also looked forward to attending his annual 312th Air Force Reunions which he had attended for the past several years. Every Tuesday he looked forward to getting together with his brother and sisters for coffee and pizza and this became known as the “Tuesday Club” to the rest of the family. Nick was a member of the VFW in Saugus and the Sons of Italy in Somerville.

The beloved husband of the late Tina J. (Cardetta) Andreottola who passed away in 2011, Nick was a devoted father to Michael Andreottola of Andover, Nicholas Andreottola, Jr and his wife Mary of Tewksbury, Phyllis Andreottola of Londonderry, NH, Marie Andreottola Cirelli and her husband Jay of Lakeville. He was a loving grandfather of Nicholas, James, Katie, Heather, Olivia, Michael, Christopher, Mark as well as a loving great-grandfather to Nicholas, Nolan, Abigail and Emma. The dear brother of Frank Andre and Lena Mills, both of Medford and the late Anthony Andre, formerly of Brookline and Frances Belmonte, formerly of Medford, he leaves many dear nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, January 21st at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
