Obituary

Mr. Roger P.D. Roy, III, of Raynham, died Friday, January 15 in the New England Sinai Hospital, Stoughton, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Kohut) Roy for 62 years. He was born 86 years ago in Pittsfield, the son of the late Roger P.D. Roy II and Mary Amelia (Mercure) Roy. He was educated in Pittsfield and had been a Raynham resident for the past 62 years. Prior to his retirement Roger assisted his late son, Michael G. Roy with the operation of the former Nolan’s Printing Company for 25 years. He was previously employed as a salesman for Metropolitan Insurance Co. in Taunton for 10 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War era. Roger was a communicant of Holy Family Church in East Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 2 sons: Robert Roy of Bridgewater, and Roger G. Roy and his wife, Alice of Phoenix, Az.; 2 grandchildren: Kristina Medeiros and Evan Roy; 3 great grandchildren: Mackenze Walker, Gavin Medeiros, and Alexis Medeiros, and several cousins. Roger was also the father of the late Michael G. Roy and the brother of the late Sr. Mary Roy.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Tuesday, January 19, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visiting Hour will be held prior to the Service, Tuesday, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, Ma., 01701.
