
Marion Richardson Pounder, 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH. She was born in Derry on November 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Earle and Elsie (Read) Richardson.
Marion lived most of her life in Derry and was active in many community organizations, including the Derry Historical Commission, the Derry Village Improvement Association, the DAR and the Questors. An educator in NH schools for 41 years, she was past president of the NH Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Marion was the first woman to be named to the Board of Trustees for Pinkerton Academy and served for 32 years.
She is survived by her son, Richard Pounder and his wife Jeanne of Dover, NH; two granddaughters, Sandi Pounder and her husband Price Heiner of Watford City, ND, and Laurie DeMarco and her husband Paul of Potomac, MD; three great grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Richardson of Walpole, NH and Raymond Richardson and his wife Carole of Bluffton, SC; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her older brother, Howard Richardson and her younger sister, Lois Richardson.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 4 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St,, Derry. A Celebration of Marion’s life was held on Thursday, January 21st at 2:00pm in the First Parish Congregational Church, 47 E. Derry Rd., E, Derry. Private burial was held in Forest Hill Cemetery, E.
