Obituary

Dorothy Pridgen Hogan, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Hogan was born September 18, 1926, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late George Enoch “Bud” and Narciss Swales Pridgen. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hogan enjoyed working in her yards, especially growing flowers, roses being her favorite. She also had a special room added to her house just for growing flowers. She was known as the “Cat Lady” of Snowden Loop.

She is survived by her children: Barbra McDuffie of Irwinville, Martha Hogan of Fitzgerald, Cathy & Dewayne Soles of Fitzgerald and Danny & Cookie Hogan of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren: Terri & John Hughes of Irwinville, Michael Champion of Fitzgerald, Nathan Champion of Fitzgerald, Bryan & Leticia Champion of San Antonio, Texas and John Patrick McDuffie of Green Cove Springs, Florida and five great-granddaughters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William David “Pete” Hogan; two sons: James David Hogan and Ronnie Hogan; a daughter: Carol Broome; three brothers and four sisters.
