Obituary

Rudolph P. Lebel, 89 of Danvers and Plano, Texas, died peacefully at his home in Danvers on Monday, January 11, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Eleanor J. (Clark) Lebel with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Alfred P. and Marie Antoinette (Gagnon) Lebel. Rudy enlisted in the Army at the age of 18 and served as a Staff Sergeant with the Army Air Corps 346th Bomber Squad in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and graduated from Boston College with his B.S. in Business Administration. He began working in office machinery for Addressograph-Multigraph and became a systems analyst for the company. Following his retirement, he continued to work as an independent consultant in computer systems. In his later years he was involved with Y2K projects and worked for the Census Bureau into his 84th year.

He and Eleanor lived part of the year in Plano, Texas and the remainder of their time in Danvers. In Texas, Rudy volunteered as a docent for the Commemorative Air Force, teaching all generations about the B-29 Bomber, FiFi. He loved spending time with family as well as extensive traveling. Ever the adventurer, Rudy loved hot air balloons, white water rafting and glider planes. He loved life, parties and dancing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Kathleen L. Ameduri and her husband Gene of Poland, OH, Maureen J. Lebel of Spokane, WA, Judith E. Lebel of Boston, Janet L. Karch and her husband Ted of Dallas, TX, four grandchildren, Scott A. Ameduri of Scottsdale, AZ, Dr. Rebecca K. Ameduri of Woodbury, MN, Andrea K. Scofield of Dallas, TX, Elisabeth A. Hartford of Port Neches, TX. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Alisha & Maya Gupta of Woodbury MN, Ava & Ali Ameduri of Scottsdale, AZ as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Lebel.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral mass on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s of the Annunciation Church 24 Conant St., Danvers. There will be no visiting hours. Burial at a late date will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to your favorite charity.
