North Augusta, SC – Mr. Jim “Barney” Barnes, 69, beloved husband of the late Gudrun Marie Barnes, entered into rest on January 8, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Barnes worked for over 40 years until his retirement with Austin Industrial. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also loved watching football. Mr. Barnes served during Vietnam with the United States Army. He will be remembered as a fantastic Dad and Opa.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his daughters, Michelle Brown (Jimmy) of Coatesville, PA, Christine Hart of Coatesville, PA, Nicole Conner (Andrew) of Waynesville, GA, and Christina Hobbs (James) of Rock Hill, SC; his brother, Charles “Chuck” Barnes (Gladys) of Amsterdam, OH; his sister, Karen DeNiro (Lou) of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Alexandria Ferguson (Eric), Amanda Hart, MaKayla Barnes, Cheyenne Hobbs, Adam Hobbs, and Emileigh Conner; and by his beloved cousin, Gloria “Dude” Kautz. In addition to his wife, Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his brothers, William and John Robert Barnes.
The family will receive friends at Mr. Barnes’ residence at 1827 Bunting Drive, North Augusta, SC, 29841 on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 starting at 4:00 PM. The family will hold a private graveside service for Mr. Barnes at a later date.
