Joseph Aiello, 93, of Hudson, formerly of Brighton and Gloucester, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8th with his loving family at his side at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center in Marlborough. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Catherine M. (Demetri) Aiello.
Joseph was born in Gloucester, son of the late John and Calogera (Gelardi) Aiello. He was raised in the North End of Boston and was a graduate of Boston English High School. He was a proud Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged in 1945. Joseph spent 47 years in Brighton before moving to Hudson in 2009. He retired in 2006 from the M.S. Walker Company in Somerville. He was currently a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson and member of the V.F.W. Post in Brighton.
Joseph had many interests throughout his life but enjoyed playing cards with friends the past few years. He also enjoyed his favorite hobby repairing watches and jewelry. He looked forward to spending time with his loving family and always cherished seeing his grandchildren and later his great grandchildren. He was loved by many and will truly be missed by all.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Carla Manzo and her husband Patrick of Hudson, John Aiello and his wife Vilma of Derry, NH, Marie Lewis and her husband Howard of Townsend and Joseph S. Aiello and his wife Mary of Roslindale. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, Patrick Manzo, Anthony Manzo and his wife Laurinda and Catherine Manzo-Moore, all of Hudson, Jill Richards and Michael Lewis and his wife Sharon, all of Leominster, Lisa Aiello of Londonderry, NH, Joseph Aiello and his wife Sophia of West Newton, Karyn Aiello and Johnathan Aiello both of Roslindale; his 9 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Josephine DiLiberti and survived by his brother-in-law Michael DiLiberti; brother of the late Anthony “Nutzie” Aiello and survived by his sister-in-law Felicia Aiello; survived by his sister Grace Favazza and her husband Joseph; brother of the late Thomas Aiello and his wife the late Emily Aiello; brother of the late Michael Aiello and survived by his sister-in-law Grace Aiello; survived by his brother John Aiello and brother–in-law to the late Patricia Aiello; survived by his sister Marie Linquata and her companion Joseph Polizzia and brother-in-law to the late Louis Linquata; Brother of the late Louis Aiello and survived by his sister-in-law Rose Aiello; survived by his sister Annette Kennedy and brother-in-law to the late Brian Kennedy and survived by his sister Joanne Aiello and her companion Anthony Tamarindo, all of Gloucester.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Jan. 11th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-¬Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). Joseph’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12th at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 70 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, MA 01930 with a funeral mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
