Doris T. Fitzgerald, 94, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Hawthorn at Cotton Hill Personal Care Home in Randolph County.
Graveside services will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County, with the Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the church one hour prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was born April 10, 1921, in Berrien County, Georgia, to the late Elzie & Olive Mobley Tucker. She attended the Alapaha School and graduated from Ocilla High School. She later attended business school. She worked in finance and records at Fort Stewart. Mrs. Fitzgerald formerly worked for the National Bank of Fitzgerald, Barfield Drugs, and later The Gift Gallery. She loved working in her yards and spending time with her friends and family. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald, participating in many of the ministries.
She is survived by her two nieces: Lawana & Tom Friddell of Dawson and Leanne & Jimmy Taylor of Montezuma; three great-nieces: Brandi & Scott Curry of Shellman, Leslie & Jeremy Borders of Warner Robins, and Lynn & Mike Chavez of Newnan; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Bruce Edwin Rigdon and Wilbur V. Fitzgerald; a sister, Florene Tucker Sherrill; and a niece, Dr. Lisa Friddell.
