Juanita Larue Barton, 88, of Derry, NH, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016, in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH with her husband by her side. She was born in Amarillo, TX on July 31, 1927, the daughter of the late Alvin and Effie (Johnson) Garrett and her step mother, Naioma. She had been a resident of Derry for the past 34 years, formerly living in Needham, MA.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Barton Jr. of Derry; three sons, James M. Barton, III and his wife Donna of Manchester, NH, Donald B. Barton and his wife Susan, and Michael D. Barton and his girlfriend Sherilyn all of Hawaii; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Crawford of AR, Christine Sillivan of OK, and Loretta Fox of TX; one brother, Harold Garrett of Arizona; as well as several nieces and nephews. Juanita was predeceased by her daughter Gail M. Emerson and her brother Lloyd Garrett.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 9am to 11am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH with funeral services to follow at 11am in the funeral home. The burial was held privately with family members in the NH State Veterans Cemetery.
