Obituary

James Francis Quine, age 85, of Duxbury, formerly of Winchester, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 7, 2016.

He was the loving husband of 54 years of Maren (Cindy Slagle) Quine; loving father of Stephanie Raftery and her husband Ed of Kent, CT, Meredith Murphy and her husband Peter of Duxbury and James Quine and his wife Noell of Stowe, VT; brother of Robert Quine and his wife Maureen of Gloucester and the late Peter Quine of Winchester. He is also survived by grandchildren, James Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Ethan Quine, Peter Murphy, Willow Quine, Elle Raftery, Daisy Quine and Maggie Raftery.

He attended Winchester High School, Tufts University, served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot and toured with the Naval Cadet Choir. Jim grew up in Winchester until 1968, when he moved to Duxbury, where he raised his family. He worked in the restaurant and theater industries and served in town government as a town assessor. He was truly an artist at heart and was happiest performing in theater, creating in his wood shop, and entertaining friends.

Memorial services will be held at the Pilgrim Church of Duxbury, 404 Washington Street, Duxbury, on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 11:00 AM.

Interment services will be private.
